Drilling of 9 in-field wells in Phase 19 of South Pars
According to Energy Press, citing the North Drilling Company, Ruhollah Abdi stated: After 13 years of continuous activity in the hydrocarbon fields of the Persian Gulf, drilling more than five thousand meters and completing 30 oil and gas wells, the Sahar 1 drilling rig entered the dry dock of the Iranian Shipbuilding and Offshore Industries Complex (ISOICO) in Bandar Abbas on June 17 of this year for renovation and major repairs in accordance with international vessel regulations.
He added: This rig was renovated and overhauled by Iranian specialists in a completely indigenous manner according to a predetermined plan and set off for Phase 19 of the South Pars gas field in order to carry out a new mission.
The head of the North Drilling Company pointed out that the project to rebuild and overhaul the Sahar 1 rig with an estimated time of 120 working days and a financial estimate of $12.5 million was carried out in the harsh conditions and extreme heat of the Bandar Abbas region by Iranian experts and 100% domestically, employing more than 24,000 person-days. He said: “This is while similar projects with this volume of work in neighboring countries can sometimes cost twice as much and take more than three times as much time as the Sahar 1 rig.” Regarding the new mission of the Sahar 1 drilling rig in the South Pars gas field, Abdi also said: “The new mission of this rig includes drilling 9 infill wells in Phase 19 of South Pars with the aim of reducing gas imbalance in the country.”
