Details of the plan to use coal instead of natural gas at Khorasan Petrochemical

According to NIPNA, citing Khorasan Petrochemical Public Relations, the company’s annual general meeting was held on Wednesday, July 18, 2025, from 10:30 to 12:00 in the conference hall of the company’s cultural and welfare complex, with the presence of more than 87 percent of shareholders.
Norouzipour, the company’s head, announced in explaining the company’s performance in 2024 that the company’s demands of 26.810 billion rials from the government were collected through bartering with shares of Persian Gulf Holding in March 2024.
He also announced the completion of the supplementary treatment plant and wastewater transfer line project, which has ensured a stable water supply for the company’s continuous production.
Norouzipour continued: “Last year, due to energy imbalance and a 100-day gas cut, the production units were taken out of service, which reduced the company’s profitability. For this purpose, the plan to use coal instead of natural gas is under review.” He also announced the purchase of key equipment, including a urea unit reactor, a melamine reactor tube bundle, and a urea unit converter basket, which is entering the company with the approval of the board of directors.
