Daily export of 1.38 million barrels of oil to China; Iran is a sustainable energy supplier to East Asia

According to Energy Press, China imported an average of 1.38 million barrels of oil per day from Iran in the first half of 2025, accounting for more than 13.6 percent of the country’s total oil imports. Independent Chinese refineries are the main buyers of this oil, and Iran sells it to China at a discount of $7 to $8 compared to Brent crude. This policy helps Beijing manage its oil imports more economically, while Iran has also been able to continue its exports in difficult global conditions.
Iran is a good option for supplying sustainable energy
This level of cooperation shows the importance of Iran as a supplier of sustainable energy to China, although analysts believe that continuing this level of trade requires careful management and diversification of Iran’s export markets so that there is sufficient flexibility in the event of possible sanctions or market changes.
With a daily need of about 14 million barrels of oil and domestic production of 4 million barrels, the Chinese economy has always been dependent on extensive imports, and Iran, as a country with sustainable production capacity, is an important option to meet some of this need. This situation shows that relations between Tehran and Beijing in the field of energy can create significant economic opportunities.
Negotiations to develop oil interaction with the Chinese
With the approach of the four-day visit of our country’s President Masoud Pezzekian to China to attend the Shanghai Summit, issues related to the development of oil and energy interactions are also expected to be on the agenda.
