Crude oil storage capacity increased

According to Energy Press, Marjan Mohammadi, the manager of the plan to build strategic crude oil reservoirs, said: This plan has goals such as market management and control of fluctuations in oil supply and demand, flexibility in production management, creating alternative capacity in emergency situations such as damage to transmission pipelines and Pump houses, as well as the occurrence of severe weather conditions at the export loading docks, while complying with the requirements of passive defense were defined.

He stated that these tanks are designed and executed in a cube-shaped, concrete and buried form, and there is a daily capacity of 100,000 barrels of oil in 500,000-barrel tanks. Based on this, the total filling capacity of the tanks is estimated to be around 800,000 barrels per day, and it takes five days to fill these tanks completely.

The executor of the strategic crude oil tank construction project emphasized on preserving the environment in the construction of these tanks and continued: in order to reduce the effects of possible oil leakage from concrete tanks and to minimize the wastage of crude oil and prevent environmental pollution, a layer of geomembrane (thin and impermeable sheets that made of plastic or rubber materials and used as insulation) around tanks.
