Construction and upgrading of the country’s energy production power plants

According to Energy Press, from Thermal Power, Abolfazl Asgari, in the ceremony of signing the Memorandum of Understanding between the public and private sectors in completing the thermal power plant and coal mine in Tabas, stated this and added: The construction and upgrading of energy production power plants will not only be one of the main pillars of economic and industrial growth of any country, but will also provide energy security and support sustainable development in the coming decades.
He emphasized: In order to reduce and eliminate the existing imbalance in the electricity supply sector, the Ministry of Energy has put various issues on the agenda, including the construction of renewable power plants with a focus on solar energy, smartization, improving productivity, demand management and modifying the consumption pattern, developing thermal power plants, and increasing the efficiency of existing power plants.
Referring to the fact that 93 percent of the country’s electricity is produced in thermal power plants, Asgari continued: Given the type and arrangement of existing units, if the delivered gas decreases, sustainable electricity production in the country will face serious problems. A situation that last winter caused eight thousand megawatts of power plants ready for service to be taken out of production due to a lack of gas fuel.
The CEO of the Thermal Power Company added: Diversifying the portfolio of energy carriers and primary sources of electricity production in the country and reducing the dependence of power plants on natural gas and liquid fuel are among the issues that have been emphasized as an important strategy in the country’s upstream documents, including the Comprehensive Energy Document.
