China’s oil imports from Iran increased
China's oil imports from Iran increased in March 2025.

According to Energy Press, citing Reuters from Singapore, traders and analysts said: China’s oil imports from Iran rose in March as buyers worried about further US sanctions on Tehran.
According to data from tanker tracking company Vertexa, China’s crude oil imports from Iran exceeded a historic high of 1.8 million barrels per day in March 2025, while storage levels at the Shandong Provincial Independent Refinery Center increased.
According to data from analytics company Kepler, Iran’s crude oil imports from China in March rose 20 percent from February to 1.71 million barrels, the highest in the past five months, while the figure was 1.43 million barrels in February.
Two traders who track Iranian cargo exports to China estimated China’s oil imports from Iran in March this year at 1.67 million barrels per day and 1.8 million barrels per day, respectively.
According to traders and analysts, China, which opposes unilateral sanctions, accounts for about 90 percent of Iran’s crude oil exports.
