Azadegan Oil Field Project Caught in the Limbo of Indecision by the Implementation Board

Azadegan Oil Field Project Caught in the Limbo of Indecision by the Implementation Board
New members of the Implementation Board have not been introduced, and there are even whispers of its closure. This uncertainty has caused damage to oil projects, especially the suspension of the Azadegan Integrated Development Contract.

According to an exclusive report by Energy Press, Hamid Borde, CEO of the National Oil Company, said on January 12, 1403, at the Khuzestan Oil Exhibition that the integrated development contract for the Azadegan oil field had been notified to the contractors, which he may have meant by this news, the notification of the contract for carrying out preliminary measures and not the IPC contract itself.
However, to date, no notification has been made regarding the entry into force of the Azadegan contract.
Considering that other permits related to the integrated Azadegan contract, such as the permit from the National Iranian Oil Company’s Board of Directors and the permit from the Economic Council, have been obtained to date, it can be said that the reason for the contract not being enforced is the lack of approval by the Implementation Board.
Of course, the role of this Implementation Board is also unclear, and its members are appointed by the previous president; the process is as follows: the National Oil Company must formally request the members of the Implementation Board to attend the National Oil Company’s meeting and be informed about this contract, so that they can finally make their final decision to approve the contract, whether the above contract was concluded based on the Cabinet’s resolution regarding IPC contracts and laws and regulations.
