Russian gas in talks; will gas reach Iran next winter?
The Deputy Minister of International Affairs and Trade of the Ministry of Oil emphasized that Iran-Russia energy cooperation has entered the implementation phase and announced that if the negotiations are finalized, Russian gas will enter Iran next winter, an event that could be the biggest development in the energy relations between the two countries.

According to Energy Press, Seyyed Ali Mohammad Mousavi, Deputy Minister of International Affairs and Trade of the Ministry of Oil, in an interview with this media outlet regarding the outcome of the oil agreements with Russia, said: “Contrary to some speculations, the extensive agreements between Iran and Russia, including the $40 billion agreement, have not been stopped and are on their way to becoming operational contracts.”
He explained that these projects are currently in the stages of studies, equipping the fields, and preparing the infrastructure, and it is natural that they will proceed at a slower pace at the beginning of the journey, but it is expected that they will gradually reach the implementation and exploitation stage starting next year.

He added: “In the gas sector, the agreement signed by the previous government is also in the final stages of being operationalized. Part of the negotiations is related to the issue of the gas transmission route through third countries such as Azerbaijan and Armenia, and the other part is related to determining the price, which is being finalized.”
The Deputy Minister of Oil emphasized: “If these matters are finalized, we hope to see Russian gas entering Iran next winter.” He also said about some doubts about Russia’s technical capabilities: “Russia is one of the largest holders of oil and gas reserves and one of the countries with technology in this field, and cooperation between the two countries can lead to synergy of technical capacities and development of joint projects.”
