More than 2,000 items of goods exchanged between Iran and Russia; trade volume reached $4.7 billion
The Russian secretary of the Iran-Russia Joint Economic Commission announced the possibility of exchanging more than 2,000 items of goods and services between the two countries, saying: "According to the latest statistics, the volume of trade between the two countries has reached 4.7 billion dollars."

According to Energy Press, Khalimat Budunova, today (Monday, February 17) at the opening ceremony of the 19th Iran-Russia Joint Economic Commission, expressed gratitude for Iran’s hosting and stated: “This year’s Russian delegation is composed of government organizations and various companies.”

She continued: “The economic and trade relations between Iran and Russia are on the rise, and according to the latest statistics, the volume of exchanges has reached 4.7 billion dollars.”

The Russian secretary of the Iran-Russia Joint Economic Commission stated: “The signing of the free trade agreement between Iran and the Eurasian Economic Union plays an important role in trade interactions and provides the possibility of exchanging more than two thousand items of goods, services and products, which indicates the significant capacity of cooperation.”

Activities of 17 expert committees

Budunova added: “As Mr. Mousavi (Iranian secretary of the Iran-Russia Joint Economic Commission) pointed out, 17 expert committees are operating in this meeting, and extensive actions and coordination must be carried out by experts from the two countries today and tomorrow.”

He continued: “We expect to reach specific results at the expert level and that the clauses that require understanding will be agreed upon, and the final text will be prepared and sent to the secretariat after the conclusion.”

The Russian secretary of the Iran-Russia Joint Economic Commission stated: “The second part of the Russian delegation will leave for Tehran tonight, and general issues will be reviewed in the meetings tomorrow, and we hope to reach a final understanding and conclusion tomorrow morning so that the final text can be prepared for signing by the heads of the Iranian and Russian commissions (Mohsen Paknejad, Iranian Minister of Oil, and Sergey Tsiliyev, Minister of Energy of the Russian Federation).

He concluded by saying: “Once again, I thank the Iranian side and I hope that the set goals will be achieved and the strategic interactions between the two countries will be enhanced.”
