Inauguration of the second row of Azadegan Southern Central Processing Unit; The backbone of West Karun development

According to Energy Press, Farhad Shahraki pointed to the role of the opening of the second tier of the central processing unit of the South Azadegan common field in creating sustainable processing capacity and stabilization of production and stated: This unit is considered the backbone of the oil processing of the South Azadegan field, therefore, with the launch of the second tier, the oil processing capacity of this field will increase in a sustainable manner and the operational bottlenecks caused by the limitations of separation, desalination, stabilization and shipment of crude oil will be removed.
He added: This issue has several key consequences, among which we can point out the stabilization of the nominal production of the South Azadegan field and the reduction of the risk of production loss due to land surface restrictions, the possibility of simultaneous production management and increased flexibility in exploitation, the improvement of the quality of crude oil sent in accordance with export and refining standards, as well as the reduction of flares and the improvement of environmental indicators in the region.
The Vice Chairman of the Parliament’s Energy Commission stated: From a strategic point of view, this unit plays a supporting role not only for the South Azadegan fields, but also as a processing hub for the neighboring fields of West Karun (such as Yaran, Yadavaran and future developments) and provides the basis for increasing the recycling rate and phased development of these fields.
Strengthening the production chain and sustainable employment
Shahraki pointed to the effect on the transmission chain and the stability of exports and said: With the completion of CTEP, the continuity between production, processing and transportation of crude oil will be strengthened and the risk of unwanted stops in the supply chain will be reduced. This issue has a direct effect on the stability of exports, increase in foreign exchange earnings, and improving the resilience of the country’s oil industry against operational shocks and sanctions.
