Ilam Refinery’s torch burning decreased by 50%
The CEO of Ilam Gas Refining Company announced the implementation of extensive programs to reduce flaring and protect the environment and said: With the measures taken, flaring in this complex has decreased by 50% and is moving towards complete elimination.

Referring to the refinery’s short-term and long-term plans, Ruholeh Noorian stated, referring to the refinery’s short-term and long-term plans: regular delivery of products such as liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), ethane, and gas condensates to the Ilam Petrochemical Complex prevents the release of a significant amount of gases, according to Energy Press. He stated that in the form of major repairs and process optimization programs, re-designing and charging catalysts of the sulfur recycling unit and the emission of polluting gases and tail gas have been reduced, he added: using the burner gases of amine units as fuel in waste incinerators is an effective measure to prevent the emission of excess gases. By fixing the temperature issues caused by the initial design and climate changes, burning of at least one million cubic meters of gas per day in the hot season of the year has been prevented. The CEO of Ilam Gas Refining Company announced the implementation of long-term measures and radical reforms in the refinery and emphasized: the design and construction of new equipment, a process including various types of heat exchangers, has begun, and with the installation and commissioning of these equipments during the major repairs next year, the unwanted sending of gas to the burner in the hot season of the year will be completely stopped.
