Worn-out cars are the cause of Iran’s gasoline shortage
An expert in the field of energy stated that the fuel consumption of cars produced in the country is twice the world standard and one of the reasons for the scarcity of gasoline, and said: By implementing some policies and producing standard cars, Iran can become a gasoline exporter again.

According to Energy Press, Mohammad Ali Khatibi said about the shortage of gasoline: about 1.5 million new cars enter the country’s transportation fleet every year, and the low quality of manufactured vehicles has caused an increase in gasoline consumption and its shortage.

He added: By taking basic measures, gasoline consumption can be reduced and discontent can be controlled, and even the country can become a gasoline exporter again.

This expert in the field of energy stated: the standard monitoring and control department should put pressure on car manufacturers to increase the quality of cars; We must also be careful when importing cars, because some imported cars have high consumption.

Khatibi said: A certain standard should be defined for the car, for example, they should consider a reasonable time and from then on, the manufactured and imported cars should not exceed the standard.

He stated that the fuel consumption of production cars in the world is about 4-5 liters per 100 kilometers, and added: Car production with a consumption of more than 10 liters is not really acceptable and the country’s automobile industry should move towards standard production.
This energy expert emphasized: the production of cars with a consumption of less than 10 liters will definitely have a noticeable effect on reducing gasoline consumption.

Khatibi continued: One of the other reasons for the high consumption of gasoline and the existing shortage is the failure to remove worn-out vehicles from the transport fleet. If 1 to 1.5 million cars enter the market every year, it should be removed in front of the used car.
