Government forced to import $6 billion worth of gasoline; quotas unchanged

The government has been forced to import $6 billion worth of gasoline to meet domestic needs; despite the high cost and widespread smuggling, current quotas remain unchanged.
According to Energy Press, Mohajerani stated that the government will have to spend $6 billion on gasoline imports and emphasized: Gasoline quotas will not change in volume or price. Naturally, 60 liters of gasoline will cost 1,500 tomans and 100 liters of gasoline will cost 3,000 tomans for individuals according to the previous procedure.
Pointing out that the final price of gasoline is nearly 70,000 tomans, he said: It is natural that when foreign currency that should be spent on other matters is spent on gasoline and part of this gasoline is also smuggled, the government is obliged to take action. The government is responsible for decisions related to people’s livelihoods and the health of society.
