Russian gas entering Iran from Azerbaijan

According to Energy Press, Russia’s share of EU gas imports is decreasing, and the EU has approved a plan to phase out Russian gas imports by January 1, 2028.
At the same time, Moscow has invested and signed new contracts with China and Asian importers to offset the decline in demand for Russian gas in Europe; Paying attention to the Asian markets has made Russia think about the Iranian market, and in continuation of the past negotiations with our country, it is looking for the export of gas in large volumes to Iran.
Iran has also welcomed this Russian approach due to its inconsistency or in better words the gas deficit in the cold seasons of the year, and in order to increase its share in the gas trade of the region and in parallel to compensate a part of its gas deficit, it has put several scenarios of importing and swapping Russian gas on the negotiation table.
The last understanding between the two countries was on the annual import of 55 billion cubic meters of gas from Russia, which amounts to about 150 million cubic meters per day.
