National Oil Company’s effective step in increasing the recovery rate of Ahvaz field

According to Energy Press, citing the National Iranian Oil Company, Hamid Borde said today (Wednesday, October 13) at the ceremony to launch the implementation of the “Pilot Project for Water Injection into the Bangestan Reservoir of Ahvaz Field” hosted by the National Southern Oilfields Company: Ahvaz Oilfield is the largest oilfield in the country and one of the four largest oilfields in the world, which has played an important role in the country’s economy. He reminded that Ahvaz Field has three main layers: Asmari, Bangestan, and Khami, and said: Significant measures have been taken in the Asmari layer and the majority of our production is from this layer; such that a record of one million barrels per day has also been recorded.
Referring to the Supreme Leader’s recommendations regarding the use of various methods of increasing production, the CEO of the National Iranian Oil Company said: Following the Leader’s emphasis and on the order of the Minister of Oil, a special working group was formed in this field. According to preliminary studies conducted at the National Oil Company, the speed of implementation of these projects has increased, and at the National Oil Fields Company in the South, new methods of enhanced recovery such as layered fracturing and water injection are being implemented on an experimental and operational basis.
