What is behind the turning on of Iranian tanker trackers after 7 and a half years?

According to Energy Press, today, the reputable media outlet TankerTrackers, an international authority on oil tanker tracking, published news that has shocked and astonished energy analysts. The media outlet claimed that “for the first time in seven and a half years, most Iranian-flagged tankers have transmitted their real position data via the AIS system without falsifying information.” In fact, the media outlet claimed that the trackers of Iran’s shadow fleet have been turned on and also published a picture of this position. If true, this claim would be an unprecedented change in Iran’s oil transportation pattern under sanctions.
Energy Press’s follow-up with official sources has so far been fruitless, and they expressed surprise at the news and considered the possibility of such a change to be very unlikely.
While no Iranian official has yet confirmed or denied the claim, an informed source told Energy Press: “This news is probably fabricated, but if it is true, it should be assessed as a major and targeted sabotage against Iran’s oil interests by the opposition movement; especially with the activation of the trigger mechanism and the intensification of international sanctions and pressure.” Mahmoud Khaghani, an energy expert and former director of the Ministry of Oil, also said in an interview with Energy Press about the claim that the Iranian tanker trackers were revealed: “If this news is true, there are two possibilities; first, that some movements and what I refer to as the hidden government or shadow government are seeking to create a new crisis in order to provoke the United States and its allies to seize or track Iranian tankers. Second, that due to the unprecedented saturation of the global market, about 1.2 billion barrels of oil are floating on the water, it is no longer possible to hide the tankers’ routes. In fact, the tankers’ radars may have been turned on by these same hidden networks that are pursuing their own interests in the atmosphere of tension and instability.

The ambiguous and contradictory atmosphere surrounding this news has left energy analysts waiting for Tehran’s official response and further explanations from the media.
It is worth noting that the Pezizkian government faced the challenge of imposing sanctions on the Iranian tanker fleet in the very first days of its inauguration. At the same time, some media outlets claimed that complete information about Iranian tankers was provided to the United States by some problematic individuals in the 13th government; a claim that has so far been neither confirmed nor denied. However, evidence shows that a specific movement is seeking to inflict damage on the Pezizkian government and harm national interests.
