Discovery of a gas field with reserves of 10 trillion cubic feet of gas

According to Energy Press, Mohsen Paknejad said that he is grateful to God that he can announce the good news of new gas and oil reserves to our noble and dear people today, and added: “Based on the measures taken in the exploration area of ​​the Pazen field in the southern region of Fars Province and along the northern part of Bushehr Province, new reserves have been discovered.”

Stating that the Pazen field is located about 21 kilometers from the city of Jam (Bushehr Province) and based on the exploration measures, it has increased the country’s in-situ gas reserves by 10 trillion cubic feet, he added: “After stopping exploration activities in this field for about 8 years, exploration operations on the second well have resumed. So that the drilling of the second exploration well was completed some time ago, and based on the tests carried out on this well, we have achieved this significant achievement.”
The Minister of Oil clarified: “In order to be able to get a correct idea and visualization of the large volume of reserves discovered in the Pazan gas and oil field, I must say that this field has 10 trillion cubic feet of gas, and if we consider a 70 percent recovery rate in the country’s gas fields, we reach a withdrawal figure of 7 trillion cubic feet, which is equivalent to 7,000 days of production of one phase of South Pars, which has about 17 to 18 years of gas production of one phase of South Pars, hence it is a considerable number.”
