Petrochemicals victims of gas impulses; Winter is hard on the way

According to Energy Press, the nominal capacity of Iran’s petrochemical industry reached 2 million tonnes at the end of the year; But there were 5 million tonnes of real product production in Iranian petrochemicals.
In fact, we have 5 million tonnes of empty capacity in the country’s petrochemical sector. Hassan Abbaszadeh, Deputy Minister of Petroleum and CEO of the National Petrochemical Company, said: “These 2 million tonnes of petrochemical capacity that are inactive and empty, equivalent to $ 5 billion in unused investment, often due to lack of feed.”
Last year, the amount of natural gas allocated to the country’s petrochemical industry as feed and fuel was much lower than the capacity and needs of the industry.
While the capacity and need of allocation of gas to the country’s petrochemicals is about 5 million cubic meters per day, in the first six months of the year, an average of about 2 million cubic meters of gas was delivered to petrochemicals; And this amount has decreased to about 2 million cubic meters per day in the cold six months of the year.
