The country’s refining capacity will increase by 180,000 barrels by the end of 1404
The CEO of the National Iranian Oil Refining and Distribution Company announced an increase of 180,000 barrels in the country's refining capacity by the end of this year and said: "Three important projects: oil and gas quality improvement at the Shiraz Refinery, kerosene quality improvement at the Isfahan Refinery, and the gasoline unit at the Tehran Refinery will be put into operation by the end of 1404."

According to Energy Press, citing the National Iranian Oil Refining and Distribution Company, Mohammad Sadegh Azimifar, while explaining the latest achievements and plans of the refining industry on the occasion of the first anniversary of the 14th government, stated: In this government, by focusing on increasing the quantity and quality of product production in the country, we have tried to improve the volume of the country’s fuel reserves, which were facing unstable conditions at the beginning of the government’s handover, and to increase the volume of power plant oil and gas reserves by 1.5 billion liters.
Stating that the 1.5 billion liter increase in the volume of power plant oil and gas reserves this year came at a time when the country’s power plant fuel reserves were not replenished last summer and we witnessed a power outage last winter, he added: “We hope that by increasing the volume of reserves, we will not witness a power outage this year. Also, by increasing the level of the country’s gasoline reserves in warehouses, despite the increase in demand during the 12-day war to 200 million cubic meters per day, we did not face a shortage.”
Improving the quality of refinery fuel
The CEO of the National Iranian Oil Refining and Distribution Company stated that three important product quality improvement projects aimed at increasing profitability and improving the quality of fuel in the country’s refineries will be put into operation by the end of this year. He said: These projects include the Shiraz Refinery’s “DHT” oil and gas quality improvement project with the aim of completely converting the refinery’s oil and gas to Euro 5, the Isfahan Refinery’s “KHT” kerosene quality improvement project, and the Tehran Refinery’s “CCR” gasoline unit.
Azimfar announced that the Isfahan Refinery’s quality improvement project will be put into operation this weekend and continued: Also, the Tehran Refinery’s CCR (gasoline) unit will be put into operation by the end of this year with the aim of converting all gasoline produced by this refinery to Euro 5 standards and increasing the refinery’s gasoline production by 20 percent.
Describing the latest situation of the oil refining industry in the country, he stated: The National Iranian Oil Refining and Distribution Company refines 2.4 million barrels of crude oil and gas condensates daily through 10 refineries in the country and converts them into valuable products. It transports the oil to 87 oil depots in the country through about 15,000 kilometers of pipelines, 16,000 road tankers, and 3,000 road tankers, and then delivers it to the final consumer through 7,000 fuel supply stations, air refueling centers, and major consumers.
Low productivity in the consumption sector is the reason for the energy imbalance in the country. The CEO of the National Iranian Oil Refining and Distribution Company stated that low productivity in the consumption sectors has caused a gap between production and consumption, and emphasized: The wear and tear of 53 percent of the country’s transportation fleet with consumption two to three times the global consumption, the low efficiency of the country’s power plants compared to the global average, and fuel smuggling resulting from price differences with neighboring countries are among the factors that have caused excessive and off-grid consumption and imposed tight operating conditions on the production sector.
