Oil Technology Park with three strategic missions, on the path of digital transformation and consumption management

According to Energy Press, Seyyed Farhang Fasihi stated today (Wednesday, August 10) at the signing ceremony of the Trilateral Cooperation Memorandum of Understanding for the Development and Integration of the Innovation and Technology Ecosystem of the Oil Industry and the Comprehensive Memorandum of Understanding for the Establishment and Management of the Associated Gas Value Chain Development Consortium: I hope we can benefit from the blessings of these days and that the important memorandums that are being signed today with the efforts of the Deputy for Engineering of the Ministry of Petroleum will pave the way for a serious transformation in the connection between universities, research institutes, technology parks, and the private sector in the oil industry.
He added: The oil industry plays an unparalleled role in the development of the country, and although numerous measures have been taken on the supply side of knowledge, technology, and scientific capacity after the revolution, this capacity has not been sufficiently stretched on the demand side and effective communication has not been established. As a result, many industry issues, including the issue of associated gases, still persist despite the scientific and research fields.
Ministry of Oil’s Efforts to Form an Oil Industry Innovation Ecosystem
The head of the Oil Industry Technology and Innovation Park, referring to the two-decade history of technology parks in the country, explained: During this time, many issues have been identified and there is scientific capacity, but the lack of proper communication between knowledge providers and problem owners has prevented these capacities from being utilized. If this communication is formed, a major leap in the development of technology and the knowledge-based economy will occur.
Fasihi stated that no important technological activity in the world can be achieved without networking, and said: Networking is the missing link in the development of technology in the country. Fortunately, the Ministry of Oil, with the positive approach of the Deputy for Engineering, is trying to form the oil industry innovation ecosystem with a successful model so that the complexes, while synergistically enhancing, do not stand in each other’s way.
He highlighted the role of universities and research institutes in this path and stated: Sometimes we are weak in knowledge or in training specialized human resources, and here the university plays a pivotal role. Sometimes, knowledge must be connected to technology and technology to industry, and this role is the responsibility of research institutes and parks. If this division of labor is done correctly and all groups are connected to the industry and its real issues, the result will quickly become widespread.
Three major missions of the Oil Industry Technology and Innovation Park
The head of the Oil Industry Technology and Innovation Park, emphasizing the business-oriented approach of the Oil Industry Park, stated: Like other parks, the Oil Industry Park is not satisfied with only establishing companies and providing legal privileges, but also turns the real issues of the oil industry into the work of technology companies. The recent understanding with the Ministry of Science has also made it possible for the Oil Industry Park to use the capacity of all technology companies located in the country’s parks, in addition to the companies located in it, to solve strategic issues of the oil industry.
Fasihi said eloquently about the missions of the Oil Industry Technology and Innovation Park: We have three major missions; First in the field of the oil industry value chain, second in the field of smartization and digital transformation, and third in the field of energy consumption management. All these missions are pursued with a business perspective so that in addition to promoting technology, they also help the sustainability and prosperity of start-up businesses. He concluded by stating: The Associated Gases Value Chain Development Consortium and the tripartite cooperation agreement between the university, research institute, and park can be a new model for networked and business-oriented management in the oil industry, and we hope that by properly implementing these agreements, an important step will be taken on the path of elevating the dear Islamic homeland and the sustainable development of the country.
