Hossein Zadeh, a member of the Parliament's Energy Commission, in an interview with "Energy Press":
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is looking for peaceful negotiations regarding the “Arash” gas field
According to Energy Press, the dispute over the Arash gas field is one of the most controversial cases in the Persian Gulf. Saudi Arabia and Kuwait have rejected Iran’s ownership of the Arash field, despite the fact that 45% of this field is located in Iranian waters and is in line with the Forozan and Esfandiar fields. Hossein Hosseinzadeh, a member of the Energy Commission of the Majlis, told “Energy Press” in explaining the reason for the silence of the Iranian government regarding the repetition of the claim of Saudi Arabia and Kuwait regarding the right of 100% ownership of the Arash gas field. And it is Kuwait, because we don’t want to repeat the experience of losing the mast, like before.
Hossein Hosseinzadeh, in response to the criticisms regarding the silence of our country’s officials in the face of the repeated claims of Saudi Arabia and Kuwait regarding the 100% ownership of the Arash gas field and ignoring Iran’s right to own this gas field, reminded: the government’s duty in this regard is twofold. One section is related to the specialized area of oil and drilling and fields and the development of Arash field, and the Ministry of Petroleum has announced that it is ready for the development of this gas field. But the second part of the story is related to foreign policy and diplomacy.
He continued: If the government is silent about this claim, it does not mean that it is not following up on the matter. I am personally aware that the government is following the matter and is negotiating; But it is not clear what the result will be.
