3% reduction in energy consumption at South Pars Second Refinery

3% reduction in energy consumption at South Pars Second Refinery
The DM Water Unit Optimization Project of the South Pars Second Refinery resulted in complete self-sufficiency in industrial water supply by increasing the desalination capacity by 60% and reducing energy consumption by 3%.

According to Energy Press, citing the South Pars Gas Complex, Kazem Tayyibi stated that an extensive optimization project in the DM water production unit (demineralized water) and specialized acid washing operations on the desalination packages of this gas complex have been completed, and stated: In this operation, all key equipment and sensitive components of the DM water unit were rebuilt, renovated, and calibrated. He pointed out that this measure led to improved process stability, improved boiler feedwater quality, and a significant reduction in risks from corrosion and scaling in the refinery’s sensitive equipment. He added: With precise acid washing, the operational capacity of the desalination packages increased by 60 percent, so that the need to import water from foreign sources was completely eliminated and the refinery achieved operational self-sufficiency in supplying industrial water.
