Privatization of the petrochemical industry completed

According to Energy Press, citing the Ministry of Oil, Zohreh Alipour stated today (Sunday, June 8) at the Second National Conference on Development and Future Outlook in the Petrochemical Industry, referring to the significant progress in the petrochemical industry: So far, about 65 companies active in the petrochemical sector have been transferred to the private sector and public non-governmental institutions, and except for two or three companies, including Hegmataneh Petrochemical, Ibn Sina, and a small share in Persian Gulf Holding, the government no longer has any ownership in this industry that would compete with the private sector; an issue that is considered a major step on the path to privatization.
Stating that transferring affairs to the private sector will undoubtedly lead to an improvement in the business environment, she said: Also, considering the payment of equity dividends by petrochemical companies, today a significant number of people are indirectly shareholders of these companies.
The head of the Privatization Organization emphasized the need to establish a regulatory body in the petrochemical industry and stated: “The establishment of this body is essential and related issues have been raised in the parliament; we hope that this issue will reach the implementation and operational stage as soon as possible.”
