Carrying out microtunneling operations in the passage of the Ahvaz-Kuhdasht gas pipeline
The head of the Iranian Gas Engineering and Development Company said: For the first time in this company, the microtunneling method was used to pass the Ahvaz-Kuhdasht gas pipeline through the Karun River.

According to Energy Press, citing the Iranian Gas Engineering and Development Company, Behnam Mirzaei, while visiting the microtunneling operations in the area of kilometer 105 of the first section of the Ahvaz-Kuhdasht pipeline, expressed satisfaction with the performance of the project stakeholders, contractors, and consultants and stated: The implementation of this method in overcoming challenging obstacles is being carried out with an appropriate approach based on domestic expertise. In this area, the passage of the two national transmission pipelines, the ninth and sixth, is planned to cross the Karun River with a length of approximately 340 meters (each line is 170 meters).
He expressed appreciation for the role of the Khatam al-Anbia (PBUH) Construction Headquarters and the Niroo Gostar Institute, and announced the start of the construction of the 170-meter-long tunnel of the ninth national line, adding: The construction of the second tunnel related to the sixth national line is also on the agenda.
The head of the Iranian Gas Engineering and Development Company said about the benefits of the microtunnelling method: This method, by causing minimal surface damage to natural resources and the environment, enables drilling in difficult geological conditions such as clay soils or rocky areas. It also provides precise control and continuous monitoring of the implementation process, allowing operations to be carried out without direct human intervention, and significantly increases the project’s safety level.
