Discovery of 2 new oil fields in South Pars

Discovery of 2 new oil fields in South Pars
Two new oil fields have been discovered above and below the South Pars gas field in the Persian Gulf, and preparations for their development are underway.

According to Energy Press, the project to drill an oil well in the Persian Gulf, which includes offshore exploration operations, has been launched in partnership with the Offshore Oil Company and the National Iranian Oil Company. The project seeks to discover oil in various areas of the South Pars field.
According to the initial plan, the North Drilling Company was supposed to start drilling operations and the necessary equipment had been predetermined. The drilling rig and the location of the equipment were determined so that the operational operations at sea could begin in February and March 1403. However, for some reasons, this operation has been delayed and Iran is currently lagging behind its competitors in oil extraction from this field.
Prediction of higher reserves in the Iranian part of the field
The oil field in the Persian Gulf has different slopes. In areas such as the Yalda section, the slope of the land is higher, while in the more southern parts, the slope of the land tends to be lower. For this reason, it is predicted that the oil reserves in the Iranian part of this field will be higher than in other parts.
This oil field is known as a stratified field and is different from conventional fields. In such fields, the exact amount of oil reserves cannot be determined by drilling a single exploration well and usually at least 2 or 3 wells are needed to accurately assess the reserves. However, the existence of oil layers in this field is certain and neighboring countries are exploiting it.
