Which Iranian petrochemicals are aromatic?

According to an exclusive report by Energy Press, Iran’s petrochemical industry has long played an important role in supplying valuable chemical products. Among the active units, aromatic petrochemicals hold a special place, as they convert hydrocarbon feeds into substances such as gasoline, toluene, and xylene.
In this report, we will introduce the country’s aromatic petrochemicals, production capacity and challenges facing this industry.
Background and main players
The activity of Iran’s aromatic units dates back to about half a century ago, when Bandar Imam Petrochemical was launched as the first unit in this field. This petrochemical, along with other similar units, uses naphtha and gas condensate as feedstock and produces valuable products.
Currently, Persian Gulf Holding is the largest producer of aromatic products in the country. This holding owns three important petrochemicals, namely Bandar Imam Petrochemical, Bu Ali Sina Petrochemical and Nouri Petrochemical.
In addition, Isfahan Petrochemical and Farabi Petrochemical are also among Iran’s aromatics producers.
