53% of the country’s cars are worn out
The CEO of the National Petroleum Products Distribution Company said: "Vehicle wear and tear is the main factor in high gasoline consumption and air pollution. The CNG fuel development plan has been put on the agenda as one of the solutions to reduce gasoline consumption and air pollution."

According to Energy Press, Karamat Weiss Karami, CEO of the National Petroleum Products Distribution Company, in an interview with this media outlet, while referring to the high volume of gasoline consumption in the country, emphasized the effective role of vehicle wear in this regard and said: “About 41 million passenger vehicles, pickup trucks, and motorcycles are circulating in the country, 53 percent of which are worn out. Worn out vehicles have a significant contribution to air pollution due to their high fuel consumption and high emissions.”
