According to Energy Press, Saeed Rahman Salari stated this morning (Tuesday, February 13) at the ceremony of commissioning plans and projects to diversify the country’s fuel portfolio: After about two decades of efforts in the CNG sector, 2,600 stations are currently active in the country, and today, on the occasion of the 46th anniversary of the victory of the Islamic Revolution, 12 new stations were put into operation.
He pointed out that considering the approximately 4.4 million official gas-powered vehicles in the country, there is one station for every 1,800 vehicles, and added: The share of CNG fuel is less than 2.5 percent of the total natural gas consumption in the country.
The Director of the CNG Project of the National Iranian Petroleum Products Distribution Company, stating that currently about 14.5 percent of the total consumption of the country’s light transportation sector, with more than 19 million cubic meters per day, is allocated to CNG, stated: By allocating and providing a budget of more than 3 billion dollars in the construction of CNG stations and supporting the conversion of workshops and factory production of dual-fuel vehicles, more than 117 billion cubic meters of CNG gas (equivalent to 117 billion liters of gasoline) have been distributed in the country since the beginning of the CNG project.
Pointing out that if CNG had not been added to the country’s fuel basket, the country’s total gasoline consumption by the end of Azar 1403 would have been equivalent to 143.4 million liters per day, Rahman Salari emphasized: Given the increasing growth in gasoline consumption and the lack of growth in consumption in the CNG sector, it is necessary to pay attention to the obstacles to the development of CNG in the country’s transportation fuel basket.
