MP’s question to Iran’s oil minister about not applying discount on gas bills of subscribers

According to Energy Press, Hossein Ali Haji Deligani, the representative of Shahinshahr in the Islamic Council, announced his question to Javad Oji, the Minister of Petroleum, about not applying a 70% discount on gas bills.

He added: This question has been presented to the board of directors and it should be referred to the relevant commission for consideration according to the regulations, and the minister should attend the specialized commission to answer the questions.

The representative of Shahinshahr said: If the minister’s explanation is convincing, the report of the meeting with the minister will be presented to the presiding committee and the question will be removed from the agenda of the parliament.

The text of the Shahinshahr representative’s question to the oil minister is as follows;

Following the order of the honorable president regarding a 70% discount on the price of gas consumed on the bills between December and the end of March 1401, unfortunately, according to the reports received, how to apply this discount to people in different provinces compared to the total price of gas consumed It has not been done and only a part of the gas price has been discounted, and the method of calculating the gas tariff is still unclear and this issue has caused people’s dissatisfaction.

Therefore, in order to clarify public opinion, it is necessary to answer the following questions.

1- What is the reason for the increase in the price of gas consumed on the bills of 2022?
2- Why is the 70% discount given to only a part of the gas price?
3- Why is the method of calculating the consumption gas tariff not informed? To reduce public dissatisfaction by removing existing ambiguities?
4- What measures and solutions have been devised to calculate the price of gas consumption in the household sector for the upcoming cold season (autumn and winter 2023) so that people are not under pressure?

According to Tasnim, according to Article 207 of the internal regulations of the Islamic Council, any representative can ask the responsible minister about his duties regarding the country’s internal and external issues. The question must be written and explicit, the Board of Governors is obliged to immediately send the question to the relevant specialized commission; The commission is obliged to hold a meeting with the minister and the questioner in the presence of the questioner and the questioner within fifteen days at the latest and deal with the matter by listening to the opinions of the questioner and the minister and conducting the necessary investigations.
