preparation to pass the hard winter; Increasing the production and distribution of alternative fuels
A significant decrease in fuel reserves of power plants at the beginning of autumn sounded the alarm of fuel shortage in the cold season. However, the CEO of the National Oil Products Distribution Company announced the implementation of comprehensive plans to increase the production and distribution of alternative fuels and assured that with the cooperation of other agencies, the problem of supplying fuel to power plants will be solved in winter.

According to the exclusive report of “Energy Press”, Karamet Viskarmi, CEO of the National Oil Products Distribution Company, in an exclusive conversation with “Energy Press”, explained about the plans made for the winter fuel supply of power plants.

Referring to the significant drop in air temperature this fall and the increase in demand for fuel, he said: Due to the limitation in the supply of natural gas as the main fuel for power plants and industries, extensive plans have been made to supply alternative fuels such as gas oil and fuel oil. is Especially in the cold season of the year, we try to fully meet the needs of power plants by increasing the production and distribution of these fuels.
Viskarmi added: The decrease in air temperature has increased the consumption of gas in the domestic and industrial sectors, and as a result, the pressure on the fuel supply of power plants has increased. For this reason, we have planned to increase the production of oil, gas and heating oil, to maximize the transfer capacities and to supply the fuel required by the power plants on time.

The CEO of the National Oil Products Distribution Company also emphasized that special programs have been considered to manage fuel consumption in power plants. He said: Fuel consumption in power plants should be managed so that we can supply the country’s electricity with the minimum possible fuel. In this context, the necessary arrangements have been made with the National Gas Company, the National Refining and Distribution Company and the Thermal Power Company.
Concern about the reduction of power plant fuel reserves
In response to a question about the 36% decrease in fuel reserves of power plants at the beginning of September this year compared to the same period last year, he said: With the increase in production and delivery of fuel to power plants, this situation has improved. Statistics show that in the months of Shahrivar and Mehr, the production and delivery of gas oil and fuel oil has increased significantly. We do our best to supply the fuel required by the power plants by using all available capacities in the field of production, transmission and infrastructure.
