From South Pars to our homes; Switch from gas to electricity
Iran is facing a serious energy crisis on the eve of winter. The decrease in gas production in South Pars and the excessive increase in consumption have marked a dark future for the country. According to experts, the transition from a gas-based economy to an electricity-based economy is the only way out of this crisis.

According to the exclusive report of “Energy Press”, on the eve of entering the cold season, the heavy shadow of the lack of gas and fuel burning is still weighing on the country.

Gas crisis, a heavy shadow over Iran’s winter
Population growth, industrial development and increased demand for energy have increased gas consumption. In recent years, Iran has faced a serious challenge of energy shortage, which mainly affects the gas sector, which relies on the South Pars field, which is currently struggling with the problem of pressure drop.
The drop in pressure in the South Pars field and the increase in gas consumption have caused a decrease in gas production and, as a result, gas outages and an increase in air pollution due to the burning of diesel fuel.
transition from gas to electricity; A solution to the energy crisis
Experts believe that switching from gas to electricity is a long-term strategy for managing the energy crisis in Iran.
In an interview with “Energy Press”, Saeed Saviz, working in the field of oil and gas, criticized the current policies in the field of gas consumption and offered solutions to improve this situation.
Emphasizing that the main problem in the field of gas is not the lack of resources but the wrong consumption pattern, he said: The main problem is not bringing new gas fields. The problem is that we take gas to homes and burn it. This is wrong. All industries, from methanol production to steel production, expect cheap gas, and this approach is incorrect.
Saviz believes that electricity infrastructure should be strengthened and domestic gas consumption should be shifted to electricity. He cited the reasons for this proposal as better control of electricity consumption and the possibility of supplying electricity from renewable sources.
