Iran’s backwardness in revitalizing oil and gas wells

Iran’s backwardness in revitalizing oil and gas wells
Although at least five development programs of the country have explicitly recommended to increase the recovery rate of oil and gas wells, none of the governments that are required to implement these programs have taken effective measures in this regard.

According to Energy Press, the result of a study conducted by National Oil Company experts shows that out of every 100 barrels of crude oil in oil wells, about 23 barrels can be removed and 77 barrels remain in the tank, a figure that can easily increase the country’s income. and solve the gas imbalance crisis.
As some officials of the Ministry of Oil have stated, the recovery rate of Iran’s oil wells is about 23.4%, while the world average is reported as 35%. This 10% gap with the world average means that the recovery rate is a percentage of the oil in an oil tank. which is naturally possible
Extraction.
According to the available information, although the average crude oil recovery rate of Iran’s fields is about 23.4%, the conditions of some fields require more serious investment. including in the oil fields of West Karun, where the recovery rate is below 10%. Of course, the characteristics of the rock and fluid and the behavior of the reservoir are effective in the rate of recovery and the method of its increase, but according to experts, it is not logical that more than 90% of the oil in these fields will remain underground forever.
Since the discovered resources of the oil and gas fields are depleted over time and their production level is greatly reduced, with the passage of time, the initial harvest from the fields faces serious challenges. On the other hand, with the increasing demand for crude oil in the world, the importance of maintaining production and effective presence in the world markets, shows its necessity more than ever.
Stopping investment in the recovery factor sector will also reduce the amount of their extractable reserves, therefore, increasing the crude oil recovery factor in Iran’s oil industry is a requirement and every hundredth percent of its increase is particularly important because it affects the wealth of the country and the amount of extractable oil. It helps from tanks.
Remaining in programs
The results of the research on the recovery coefficients of oil fields show that many of the country’s large oil wells are in the second half of their production life and their natural production is decreasing. For this purpose, most of the oil-rich countries use methods such as injecting gas and even water into the wells to restore the oil wells, so that the level of production in the wells is maintained or even increased in some cases. These methods, which are known as secondary and tertiary extraction methods, mainly require the use of secondary and tertiary extraction technologies in order to exploit more hydrocarbon resources.
Since 2010, the plan to increase the oil recovery rate has been given great attention in the oil and gas fields of the world. Reports show that, for example, Saudi Arabia has increased the oil recovery to 54% in the Alghar field by injecting 6 million barrels of water over a period of 40 years, or Oman, in addition to implementing Secondary methods, many tertiary extraction methods have also been implemented industrially, which has led to an increase in oil production in this country. Mohsen Khojste Mehr, CEO of the National Oil Company, promised at the beginning of the work of the 13th government that with the plan to increase the recovery factor, the country’s oil production capacity will reach 4.6 million barrels per day by 1406, of which 450,000 barrels will be the result of increased harvest.
Following this promise, the Ministry of Oil called Daneshbanian company and they were supposed to hand over a part of the closed or semi-closed wells to these companies in order to restore and increase the recycling rate of these wells.
