Gasoline will not have three prices in Iran

Gasoline will not have three prices in Iran
The Deputy Minister of Oil said: The issue of three rates of gasoline is baseless and nothing in this format has been announced until today. Rather, non-price policies are on the government's agenda.

According to Energy Press, Jalil Salari, the CEO of the National Petroleum Refining and Distribution Company, stated in a press conference: The sudden increase in the country’s gasoline consumption after the control of the Corona virus eliminated the possibility of exporting gasoline; In the conditions of Corona in 2020, with the daily consumption of about 70 million liters of gasoline and the production of about 93 million liters, it was possible to export gasoline, but with the increase of 20 million liters of consumption after the control of Corona, it was practically not possible to export gasoline.

He added: “In 2020, if it were not for the Corona situation, gasoline consumption would have reached 105 million liters, and we had a shortage of 12 million liters of gasoline per day, but due to the decrease in gasoline consumption due to the spread of Corona, it was possible to export gasoline.”

Salari stated that at the time of handing over to the government in 2020, our gasoline export obligations amounted to 744 million liters, which was equivalent to 21 ships, and needed to be resolved and determined, and 27 exports had been carried out without support, which was equivalent to 58 ships. It was part of the commitments.

He continued: At the beginning of the 13th government, the gasoline production capacity was about 94 million liters, which we increased to 105 million liters per day, and by taking measures including increasing the capacity of refining companies, gasoline production reached 112 million liters per day.

The CEO of the National Company for Refining and Distribution of Petroleum Products stated: We import gasoline in the form of clearing and swaps, and resources have been considered for this this year.

In response to a question about the amount of petrochemical gasoline production, Salari said: We do not have such a thing as petrochemical gasoline, but we use petrochemical components such as reformate and MTBE in the production of gasoline, and this reformate has the same quality as refinery reformate and is based on standards.

Regarding the possible plans to increase the price of gasoline, the Deputy Minister of Oil said: The issue of three rates of gasoline is baseless and nothing in this format has been announced until today. Rather, non-price policies are on the agenda of the government, and prevention of fuel diversion and smuggling is one of the tasks for which measures have been taken and this process should be continued.

He added: The country’s gasoline consumption is 3 times the world standard, and if gasoline consumption is reduced by 10%, it will be possible to export this fuel, which will bring significant income to the country.

Salari noted: Every Iranian car consumes an average of 12 liters of gasoline per 100 km, which is not reasonable by any standard, and for about 24 million cars, we consume 116 to 118 million liters of gasoline daily, which is a very high figure. .

He continued: “Unfortunately, the scrapping of used cars is neglected in our country, and this should be put on the agenda by using the capacities of Article 12 of the law on removing obstacles to production. This year, 1.5 million cars will be added to the country’s transport fleet, which is the amount of consumption.” They will be 5 million liters per day.
