Natural gas consumption in different sectors of Iran’s economy
About 72% of Iran's energy is provided by natural gas, and all parts of the country, from the household sector to the power plant sector, are all highly dependent on natural gas.
According to Energy Press, in recent years, the increasing importance of sustainable development and environmental protection has led to the attention of natural gas along with renewable energies. Natural gas is one of the fossil fuels that is considered among the clean energies and has far less pollution than burning oil and coal.
One of the reasons for the inefficiency of the government in natural gas policy is its increasing attention to the oil field, reliance on oil revenues and the inability to implement plans to use natural gas such as exporting or developing LNG, which has made natural gas in Iran a public good and be used for consumption and not have a place in the country’s energy diplomacy.
