75% reduction in gas flaring at South Pars Gas Complex; Phase 15 burners on the way to shutdown
The manager of the sixth refinery of the South Pars Gas Complex announced the implementation of strategic projects in the field of infrastructure renovation and said: "With the full launch of the sulfur recovery units of Phase 15, the burning of acid gases sent to the burner will be reduced by 75 percent."

According to Energy Press, citing South Pars Gas Complex Company, Shahab Chaharlang, referring to the complete repair and renovation of the sulfur recovery units of Phase 15 and the commissioning of the first and second sections of these units, stated: These measures have played a decisive role in reducing the flaring of acid gases sent to the flare by 75 percent.
He stated that with the commissioning of Phase 16, the flaring of acid gases in the flares will reach zero, adding: This plan has been defined within the framework of regional projects to reduce the flaring of gases sent to the flare and the emission of sulfur dioxide (SO₂) and is considered an important step in implementing the environmental commitments of the country’s gas industry.

The manager of the sixth refinery of the South Pars Gas Complex, announcing the renovation of underground tanks for collecting liquid sulfur in units 108 and 144, relying on innovative technical knowledge and Iranian equipment, stated: The purchase and installation of new blowers in sulfur recovery units has also prevented the unwanted burning of acid gases in the burner by eliminating the remaining problems from the time of delivery of the refinery.

Implementation of large infrastructure projects

Chaharlang considered the connection of the new line of the Phase 16 platform to the refinery’s slag catcher to be one of the largest executive projects in the region after the construction of the refineries and said: This project has been successfully implemented with the aim of increasing operational safety and improving the process of separating gas condensates and gas liquids.

Referring to the complete repairs of the power station No. 6 (SS6) during the total shutdown period, he stated: In this operation, damaged equipment was replaced and the critical infrastructure for supplying energy to the refinery was updated.
