60% of Tehran subscribers consume twice as much water as the established pattern

According to Energy Press, Mohsen Ardakani of the Tehran Provincial Water and Wastewater Company announced on Sunday that the per capita consumption of each Tehran citizen is 250 liters per day, adding: “This is a very high figure considering the 130-liter per capita consumption pattern.”
The CEO of Tehran Provincial Water and Wastewater Company considered the number of efficient subscribers of Tehran Provincial Water and Wastewater Company, who consume water according to the pattern of 12 cubic meters per household per month, to be about 35 percent of the total subscribers.
Ardakani added: “This is while 60 percent of subscribers, as high-consumption subscribers, consume water up to twice the established pattern, and more than five percent of subscribers are also considered poor consumers by consuming more than twice the pattern.”
He continued: “It is not appropriate for some citizens to consume up to 500 liters of water per day in a situation where Tehran is in its fifth consecutive drought and a severe imbalance has been created between resources and consumption.”
The CEO of Tehran Province’s Electricity Authority announced the treatment of abusive subscribers and said: “A warning will be issued to this category of subscribers in the first instance, and in case of negligence, a temporary restriction will be imposed, and on the third occasion, further restrictions will be imposed.”
