With the aim of accelerating the exploration of hydrocarbon resources and attracting investment, the National Iranian Oil Company has introduced 23 exploration blocks on land and sea, with the total in-situ oil and gas reserves of these blocks estimated at more than 193.8 billion barrels and 783 trillion cubic feet, respectively.

According to Energy Press, a set of investment opportunities in the form of 23 exploration blocks in different regions of the country have been identified and are ready to attract domestic and foreign investors. These blocks have been introduced with the aim of discovering new oil and gas reserves in various areas, including the Caspian Sea, other marine and onshore areas.
The total area of ​​these exploration blocks is about 108,000 square kilometers, and their in-place reserves are estimated to include 193 billion and 875 million barrels of oil and 783 trillion cubic feet of gas, which can play an effective role in developing the country’s production capacities and strengthening energy security.
Among these blocks, five blocks are related to the Caspian oil field, which covers an area of ​​about 11,625 square kilometers. The in-place reserves of these five blocks are estimated to be 191 billion and 800 million barrels of oil and 738 trillion cubic feet of gas. In addition, 18 blocks are under the direct management of the National Iranian Oil Company’s Exploration Management, which are located in different regions of the country. These blocks have a total area of ​​more than 96,290 square kilometers, and their in-place reserves are estimated at 2,750 million barrels of oil and 45 trillion cubic feet of gas.
