16 Iran’s dams are in a crisis situation
According to Energy Press, the last water year (from the beginning of September 2022 to the end of October 2023) ended while the amount of rainfall this year decreased by 14% compared to the long-term period of 54 years. to decrease by 47 percent.
The new report of the country’s water information and data center also indicates that the rainfall situation has improved compared to the first week of the current water year (from the beginning of September 2023 to the end of October 2024); But these rains have not yet had an impact on the reservoirs of the dams, and 16 of the important water and agricultural dams have faced a decrease of 25 to 75 percent of water until October 14.
According to this report, Tareq Dam in Razavi Khorasan has three million cubic meters of water from the beginning of the current water year until October 14, which shows a 69% decrease compared to the same period last year, and its filling rate is 8%.
The “half-wells” of Sistan and Baluchistan have 50 million cubic meters of water in the mentioned period, which has decreased by 69% compared to the same period last year, and now the filling rate of these half-wells has reached three percent.
“Shamil and Nyan” dam in Hormozgan province has 16 million cubic meters of water with a decrease of 65% compared to the same period of the last water year and the current percentage of this dam is 16%.
“Dosti” dam in Razavi Khorasan has 82 million cubic meters of water, which is a 64% decrease compared to the same period last year, and its filling level reached 7%.
From the beginning of this water year to October 14, the amount of water in the “Tanguiyeh” dam reservoir of Sirjan Kerman has reached four million cubic meters, which is a 62% decrease compared to the same period last year. The current level of this dam is 9%.
The “Serni” dam in Hormozgan province now has 13 million cubic meters of water, which has decreased by 61% compared to the same period of the previous water year and has a filling percentage of 21%.
