Since the start of the war in Ukraine in 2022, Russia has lost its influence in the European gas market, once a key source of revenue for state-owned Gazprom, according to Energy Press.
\nPutin, speaking at a joint press conference with Iranian President Masoud Peshmerga, said Russian gas supplies to Iran could reach 55 billion cubic meters per year, but should initially start with small volumes of up to two billion cubic meters.
\nThe volume of 55 billion cubic meters is similar to the flow of Russian gas to Europe through the Nord Stream 1 undersea pipeline, which was damaged in explosions in 2022.
